California public schools seek private money just to cover the basics - Los Angeles Times
More public schools looking for handouts.
California public schools seek private money just to cover the basics - Los Angeles Times: "South Orange County families are being urged to donate $400 per student to save the jobs of 266 teachers in the Capistrano Unified School District.
Parents at Long Beach's Longfellow Elementary are among countless statewide who are launching fundraising foundations.
Bay Area parents launched a campaign featuring children standing in trash cans; the theme is 'Public Education Is Too Valuable to Waste.'
A free public school education is guaranteed by the state Constitution to every California child. But as districts grapple with proposed state funding cuts that could cause the layoffs of thousands of teachers and inflate class sizes, parents are being asked to dig deeper into their pocketbooks to help."

Spoof.com: Musical 4 To Be 'Gritty' funny satire story
But is it really a spoof. Mirroring reality far as I can tell.
TheSpoof.com : High School Musical 4 To Be 'Gritty' funny satire story: "Disney chiefs have announced that the fourth installment of the High School Musical series of movies will be more realistic than the previous movies and, in the words of one executive 'gritty'.
'We want the next one to really have the feel of what the American public school system is really like' said Disney Channel president Rich Ross 'We will have the usual crowd but some new characters, including some goths and a pair of kids who plan a Columbine style massacre.'
Ross also wants more African American kids to audition 'A lot of folk have told me that the school is too white for an American public school, so I am asking for more talented kids from different ethnic backgrounds to audition.'
East High will also undergo changes to make it more like a real school 'We will have drug dealers cruising the school gates, armed security guards patrolling the corridors as well as teenage pregnancies, gangs and out of control bullying' smiled Rich Rich Ross.
It is not known whether the film's biggest stars Zac Efron, Ashley Tisdale and Vanessa Hudgens will return for the franchise's fourth outing.
'I'm probably looking for kids with more acne and maybe a little more overweight' said Ross 'In keeping with the 'gritty feel' of the production.'"

Public School Fight Clubs
Is it me or our are fight clubs flourishing everywhere in our schools? I hear a new story every day it seems like...
Inefficiency, bloated budgets coming home to roost
Open that wallet.
Ponying up for a public education - Los Angeles Times: "Pay $25, if that's all you can afford, Herman said. But he pointed up to a screen encouraging parents to dig a little deeper. Those three jobs can be saved, he said, if 80 parents contribute $250 apiece, 75 contribute $500, 50 fork over $1,000, 20 give $2,000 and six bust the bank with $5,000 contributions."

Michelle Malkin » Texas student attacked for her anti-illegal immigration homework
Free Speech suppression comes in a variety methods. This infuriates me. I'm going to be following this closely.
I will particularly be waiting for the video. Maddening.
The poor girl. She is in my prayers. Now she's a marked target. Hope her parents decide to giver her a REAL education and homeschool.
Michelle Malkin » Texas student attacked for her anti-illegal immigration homework: "It was an assignment for history class–to make a protest sign for or against an issue, and Melanie said she chose illegal immigration. Her sign read, “If you love our nation, stop illegal immigration.” Somehow, Melanie said the sign got passed around lunch and angered a group of Latino students."

Reading, Writing, Cross dressing!
Subversive.
WiscNews.com : Reedsburg Times Press: "On Friday students had the option of attending school dressed as senior citizens or members of the opposite gender. After a local resident informed the Milwaukee-based Voice of Christian Youth (VCY) America Friday, the radio network interrupted its regular schedule at 10:30 a.m. for a special broadcast that aired on nine radio stations throughout Wisconsin decrying the dress-up day and accusing the school district of promoting alternative lifestyles.
'We believe it's the wrong message to send to elementary students,' Jim Schneider, VCY America program director, said. 'Our station is one that promotes traditional family values. It concerns us when a school district strikes at the heart and core of the Biblical values. To promote this to elementary school students is a great error.'"
